The Leadership team of the National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB), led by its Acting Registrar/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Nnasia Ndarake Asanga, FCA, ACTI, paid a courtesy visit to the Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator (Associate Prof) Stephen Odey, at the Ministry of Education headquarters in Calabar.
On behalf of the NABTEB management and staff, the Acting Registrar conveyed heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, and his Executive Cabinet, for their exceptional contributions to the state’s transformation, particularly in Technical and Vocational Education. The Acting Registrar also commended the Governor’s initiatives in school rehabilitation and the recruitment of 2,500 qualified personnel into the state civil service. Senator Associate Prof Stephen Odey received special commendations for his outstanding achievements during his first year in office, as the people’s first Commissioner.
Dr. Nnasia, Acting Registrar/Chief Executive of NABTEB further stated the following prayers:
- restoration of sponsorship for students in Technical Colleges of Education and/or restoration of payment for NBC/TC May/June enrollment fees for candidates of Cross River State origin.
- Establishment of more Technical and Vocational Schools in the State as prescribed by the National Council on Education.
- Creation of additional skills acquisition centres in the State for NABTEB certification as envisioned in the Governor’s people-first agenda.
- Continuous training/retraining and employment of more Technical and Vocational Teachers in the State.
- Granting approval to students in secondary schools other than Technical and Vocational Colleges/Schools who are willing to enroll and sit for NBC/NTC examinations.
On behalf of the Governor and Government of Cross River State, the Commissioner warmly welcomes the NABTEB Executives, while also congratulating Dr. Nwasia on his appointment as Acting Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB. He encouraged him to carry out his duties with unwavering dedication, in anticipation of his confirmation as the substantive Registrar of NABTEB. We are pleased to have you at the Ministry of Education Headquarters, Calabar. Senator (Associate Prof) Stephen Odey, promised impactful collaboration with NABTEB, ensuring that all concerns raised will be thoroughly examined and presented to the Executive Governor of Cross River State for consideration, in line with his commitment to revitalising the education sector in the State.
