Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey (Associate Prof), earlier today launched the Bassey Akiba Foundation programme, during the event marking the 2024 World Literacy Day / Launch of #50 million educational support programme for students in public schools: primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, within Calabar Municipality and Odukpani Federal Constituency, which was held in the Conference Hall of Jorany Hotel Calabar.

The Commissioner at the event harped on, the importance of grooming the future leaders and having interest for community development. He encouraged the people that Bassey Akiba Foundation is profoundly complementing what His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu is poised to doing, and is committedly doing already, demonstrated recently in the free WAEC registration of 16,301 Cross River State students.

The Special Adviser on Education to the Governor of Cross River State,Dr. Mrs Afiong Ugbaja, with other top Government Functionaries, Captains of industries and many others, were present at the event as Associate Prof Odey, on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Government of Cross River State commended Bassey Akiba Foundation for their contribution to the development of the State, he finally assured the foundation of making their efforts known to the people’s first Governor.
