The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Professor Stephen Odey, on Monday, December 8, 2025 joined his counterparts from the 36 States of the Federation, alongside key education stakeholders, for the official unveiling of several National Policy Documents on Education recently approved by the 69th National Council on Education (NCE). The documents were unveiled by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, for nationwide implementation.

The high-level event, held in Abuja, marked a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the quality, inclusiveness, safety, and overall responsiveness of Nigeria’s education system.

The policies unveiled include:

  1. National Teachers Policy (NTP) and its Implementation Guidelines
  2. National Implementation Guidelines Against Drug and Substance Use in Schools in Nigeria (for Secondary Schools and Tertiary Institutions)
  3. National Policy on Almajiri Education in Nigeria and its Implementation Guidelines

Following the unveiling ceremony, the Honourable Minister led all education stakeholders to the commissioning of the COSCEN Secretariat, located within the UBEC Digital Resource Centre, Jabi, Abuja. The Secretariat is expected to significantly enhance coordination, collaboration, and support for education sector reforms across the country.
