The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Cross River State, Ntufam Dr. Fidelis Ugbo, led the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Francisca Bassey, and other members of the Governing Council on a courtesy visit to Senator (Associate Professor) Stephen Odey, Cross River State Commissioner for Education, at the Ministry of Education headquarters in Calabar. The meeting aimed to formally introduce the new Governing Council Board members to the Ministry and Commissioner, who plays a supervisory role to the university.

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of UNICROSS, Ntufam Dr. Fidelis Ugbo, who led the Governing Council, expressed his appreciation to the Commissioner and his management team for the warm reception and pledged the cooperation of the entire Governing Council with the Commissioner and the Ministry of Education as the Supervisory Ministry. Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Francisca Bassey noted that her administration has recorded significant transformation since taking office, stating that the backlog of results is currently being addressed.

The team was received by the Commissioner and management staff, as he charged them to promptly stabilize UNICROSS, ensuring that graduating students can proceed with NYSC and that certifications are prepared and released in a timely manner. He also underscored the importance of collaborating with the Ministry in its capacity as the supervisory Ministry. “I have every confidence in the Pro Chancellor a renowned technocrat, to justify the trust placed in you by the University’s visitor, His Excellency Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State, who is deeply committed to enhancing educational standards and has implemented significant transformations in the sector,” the Commissioner remarked.
