Earlier today, Professor Bob Mgbeje, former Assistant Governor Rotary Club and his team from Rotary International District 9142, paid a courtesy call on Senator (Associate Professor) Stephen Odey, Commissioner for Education, Cross River State, at the Ministry of Education Headquarters, Calabar.

The visit aimed to formally recognize Ekuase Israel Victor, the winner of the first-ever spelling Bee competition organized by the District, who is a student of Government Secondary School located in Federal Housing Estate, Calabar. The Permanent Secretary, Barrister Francis Oyije, welcomed the Rotary Club on behalf of the Ministry, expressing appreciation for their selfless commitment to advancing the education sector in the State while encouraging the club to extend the competition to the central and northern senatorial district as he calls for other non governmental organizations to emulate this good work.

The Commissioner warmly welcomed the Rotary Club members, congratulating Ekuase Israel Victor on his win in the spelling bee competition and encouraging him to continue to excel and make Cross River State proud, while also commending the Rotary Club for organizing the competition, he also thanked the teacher, couch and the School Principal for this success. He conveyed the regards of His Excellency, Senator Apostle Prince Bassey Edet Otu, who is committed to improving the education sector. The Commissioner finally promised to partner with the club as they expand their scope of coverage to other parts of the State, also thanking the Rotary Club for their enormous contribution to the education sector.
