Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey (Associate Prof), meets with all the Principals / Head Teachers of Public Secondary and Primary Schools from Calabar South, Calabar Municipality, Biase, Akamkpa, Odukpani, Bakassi and Akpabuyo LGAs, for a Pre-Resumption meeting ahead of the commencement of 2024/2025 academic session, the meeting took place earlier today at the West African People’s Institute (WAPI), Calabar.

The Commissioner with the Ministry’s management staff, including the Permanent Secretary, Mr Ikade Emmanuel Ikade, and some Directors that includes Barrister Francis Adebe Oyije, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Dr. Mrs Afiong Ugbaja, with many others were all in attendance during the Pre-Resumption meeting held with the Principals and Head Teachers of Southern Senatorial District.

The Education Commissioner – Associate Professor Odey, during the meeting harped on the Commitment of Governor Otu’s led administration in transforming the education sector for the better demonstrated also in the free WAEC registration for Cross River State students, and the need for School heads to scale up their duties by ensuring proper monitoring and supervision of their staff; He emphasised that the correct thing must be done in our school system and everyone in the education sector must shun all forms of sharp practices such as illegal collections and stick to the approved levy chart going forward. There won’t be any hiding place for defaulters, he stated while charging his Ambassadors in the sector to report appropriately any form of laxity of any staff, as staff welfare is one of government’s top priorities.
